San Antonio is the eighth largest city in the United States yet maintains its sense of history and tradition, while carefully blending chic and modern cosmopolitan influences. This city is built upon diverse cultures with a continuing interest in maintaining their history while supporting others.
The pride and joy of the city is the River Walk also known has the Paseo del Rio. The River Walk, which was built 20 feet below street level, streams through the middle of the business district. Known for having a variety of charming characteristics, the River Walk can be serene in some areas, while other sections are full of activity with romantic sidewalk cafes, world-class shopping and sophisticated night clubs.
For families or the more active adult, there are two major theme parks: Sea World and Six Flags. Sea World combines fun with education, while Six Flags is a celebration of San Antonio and South Texas.
With over 300 days of sunshine annually and an average temperature of 68.8 degrees Fahrenheit, visitors to San Antonio will also be able to entertain themselves outdoors. From world-class golfing courses to numerous state parks, there is an activity to fit everyone. San Antonio also provides a large selection of professional sports including a championship NBA team, a crowd-drawing hockey team and a minor league baseball team.
With close to 20 million visitors a year, it's easy to tell why San Antonio is beloved by its residents.
